Aldous Huxley: Was He a Libertarian?

Mason Mohon | @mohonofficial

Many know Aldous Huxley for his dystopian vision in Brave New World. Others know him from his legendary passage through the lesser known parts of consciousness in Doors of Perception. Without a doubt, Huxley is one of the most influential British writers of the 20th century. His ideas often err on the side of freedom in every form. He stands strongly with free information, free consciousness, and free decision making. Yet, amidst all of his avid support of freedom, could we classify Huxley’s politics as libertarian?

Socialism: An Insult Posing as an Economic System

Ellie McFarland | @El_FarAwayLand

In November of 2018, the United States held the midterm elections. It elected dozens of brand new faces to Congress; including the now infamous Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC). She is a “Democratic Socialist” and is a Congresswoman for New York’s 14th district. AOC’s success ushered in an entirely new era of democratic politicians. She proved that more radical policies can be popular and added to the growing pool of “socialists” in Congress. Roman King | United States

I became a leading member of their social media teams. I was a Facebook inbox manager, as well as a leading Twitter content manager. It was where I learned some pretty useful skills in the modern working world. I learned how to professionally manage a social media page, how to professionally communicate with people asking important and sometimes thought-provoking questions, and how to interact with co-workers in a professional environment. I have always and will always attribute many of the skills I have now to where I began: working with the Libertarian Party at both the local and national levels. It’s hard to overstate the importance that year or so of work had on me.

A Populist Battle in the 2020 Election

Jack Parkos | @Laissez_Faire76

As of now, there are 18 Democrats running for the primaries in the 2020 election. Furthermore, Bill Weld has announced that he will challenge Trump in 2020. Although it’s early, it appears that the big candidates for the election are Donald Trump for the Republicans and Bernie Sanders for the Democrats. Both Trump and Sanders have been labeled as “radical” and “anti-establishment” by many in the “establishment”.  The establishment, which, is dying. The old politics of neoliberalism and neoconservatism are being replaced by a new generation. This generation is embracing a new ideology-populism. This is happening on both the left and right sides of the political spectrum.
