YALCON Shows Us the Future of the Liberty Movement

YALCON is a libertarian convention held by the national organization Young Americans for Liberty (YAL). YAL is a multifaceted organization, holding both a 501(c)(3) for their education side and a 501(c)(4) for their political campaigning work in their “Operation Win at the Door” program.

One of the amazing benefits of being a member of your local YAL chapter is the ability to attend the aforementioned convention, which has 5 locations this year all around the country. During each YALCON, attendees have the opportunities to meet liberty leaders, learn how to expand their outreach knowledge, and network with their peers.

Congress Personally Showed Me Their Failures

In 2019, labeling Congress as “broken” is not a particularly controversial statement.  The deadlock that many regret is only becoming more common, leaving the ordinary citizenry little hope in any productive changes. I, like most Americans, had a very critical and cynical view of the legislative body, but upon seeing the problems firsthand, I can tell you that they are far worse than most imagine.

Ayn Rand is the Real Cool Kid’s Philosopher

In late 2017, there was an article published on currentaffairs.org referring to conservative commentator Ben Shapiro as “The Cool Kid’s Philosopher.” The article goes on to quote a New York Times piece crediting him with “dissecting arguments with a lawyer’s skill and references to Aristotle.” Is Shapiro the best we can get when it comes to logic based-philosophy? The short answer is no, but the question of who the true “Cool Kid’s Philosopher” is remains.
