Michael Flynn, a retired United States Army Lieutenant General, who served in the U.S. Army for 33 years from 1981 until 2014 has been charged for making false statements to the FBI. Hillary, who formally sent and received classified emails on a private server, then attempted to delete them, lied to the American public and could have made false claims to the FBI, however, she remains ”innocent.”
This shows hypocrisy at its highest and another reason to drain the swamp. Even though politicians have done far worst then Flynn, he still broke the law and was rightfully charged.
Flynn pleaded guilty on Friday to lying to the F.B.I. about conversations with the Russian ambassador last December, becoming the first senior White House official to pledge cooperation in the special counsel’s wide-ranging inquiry of election meddling.
Flynn’s discussions before the inauguration with the Russian ambassador, Sergey I. Kislyak, were part of a team attempt with aides running Mr. Trump’s transition into the White House to create foreign policy before they were in power. They released the documents as part of Mr. Flynn’s plea confession show. Their efforts trick the old policy of Former President Barack Obama and flouted a warning from a senior Obama administration official to stop meddling in foreign affairs until after Trump took office.
This does not show for a fact what Mr. Trump knew or if he knew about Mr. Flynn’s conversations. However federal prosecutors did say Mr. Flynn was directed by a “very senior member” of the presidential transition team. President Trump’s attorneys think that unidentified aide was Mr. Trump’s son-in-law and close adviser, Jared Kushner.
The transition was led by TTrump’srunning mate and now Vice President Mike Pence. Other key contribuaters are Mr. Kushner, Reince Priebus, President Trump’s first chief of staff, and K.T. McFarland. Mr. Flynn discussed to her about discussing sanctions against Russia with Mr. Kislyak.
On Dec. 29, according to court documents Mr. Flynn called a senior transition official who was with other members of the team at Mr. Trump’s Mar-a-Lago club in Florida “to discuss what, if anything, to communicate to the Russian ambassador about the U.S. sanctions.”
In this statement he entered his plea in a federal courthouse in Washington, Mr. Flynn, 58, denied “false accusations of ‘treason,’” but said that he had agreed to cooperate with federal prosecutors, who are examining whether Mr. Trump’s campaign colluded with Russians during the election and whether the president or his aides sought to cover up those efforts.
“I recognize that the actions I acknowledged in court today were wrong, and, through my faith in God, I am working to set things right,” Mr. Flynn stated. “My guilty plea and agreement to cooperate with the special counsel’s office reflect a decision I made in the best interests of my family and of our country. I accept full responsibility for my actions.”
This shows that Flynn’s lies are secondary to the demonstration that the Trump administration was actively undermining American foreign policy before it took office. However, it is crucial to understand we have no idea who else played a role in this and how much knowledge Trump had. This will most likely prove the most abiding scandalous fact of the Mueller investigation. And it’s one that nobody on either side of the aisle could possibly defend.
