AMA Gun Violence Prevention Pushes a False Narrative

Every time a mass murder happens in the United States, the American Medical Association (AMA) raises the accustomed political narrative. They push the usual anti-second amendment, anti-gun rights commentary as a means to prevent gun violence. But for physicians, taking care of assailants as patients, therefore preventing harm to victims, is always the best offense.  The AMA takes every opportunity to politicize their so-called representation of physicians and patients. The AMA misses the chance for dialogue and true gun violence prevention of any kind – small or large.

Trump’s Title X “Gag Rule” Protects Patients from Abortions

Warren Albrecht | United States

President Trump’s so-called Title X gag rule of medical staff from family planning clinics does nothing more than reduce abortion money. Planned Parenthood receives almost $60 million in Title X grant money. The mainstream media headlines are always about Planned Parenthood and the catastrophe if one clinic closes.

Today, the media testimony in support of Title X is discussed as women’s health. However, Title X is not designed for that result.

The Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services oversees Title X activities and monies. All arguments against the recent Title X rule by the Trump Administration is about the interpretation of the “abortion” section of Title X.  Section 1008 of the Family Planning and Population Research Act reads, “None of the funds appropriated under this title shall be used in programs where abortion is a method of family planning.”

If the world is to collapse because of overpopulation, as was the concern of President Nixon and John D Rockefeller III, then Title X would be the single most important federal funding plan in the history of the world. Today, Title X is continually fought over as a money machine for abortion referrals.

CVS Aetna Merger Shows AMA Hypocrisy

We frequently hear that the cost of healthcare is increasing. But we rarely hear anyone define why despite the reason being so obvious: government intrusion. Neither Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Cigna, Humana, Medica, nor Anthem was ever on business programs complaining of the cost of healthcare. Instead, the mainstream media gave platforms to the representatives of Medicare and Medicaid, debt providers for taxpayers. Meanwhile, the Obama administration stopped the mergers of health insurance companies.

Attorney General Loretta Lynch said the deals “would leave much of the multi-trillion dollar health insurance industry in the hands of three mammoth insurance companies, drastically constricting competition in a number of key markets that tens of millions of Americans rely on to receive health care”.

So one has to ask anyone supporting single-payer health care: why would government control (socialized medicine) be work without any competition? In short, it wouldn’t.
