Tulsi Gabbard Fights Back Against Big Tech

Recently, Democratic presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard went on Tucker Carlson, defending her decision to sue Google for allegedly suspending her campaign ads. According to Gabbard, this move on behalf of Google constitutes “election interference.” Gabbard further went on to say that her lawsuit would underscore the extensive power of Big Tech, and shed light on its violation of free speech. Gabbard’s gripes are very reminiscent of the feelings many conservatives also have towards Big Tech.

Day by day, Big Tech companies, such as Facebook and Twitter, have been shutting down the accounts of various figures they deem “controversial”; among these are Alex Jones and Louis Farrakhan. Like Gabbard, many conservatives proclaim that this is an infringement on the right to free speech and liken big tech companies onto monopolies. Thus, they assert that the solution is for the government to punish these companies.

In a recent tweet, presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard discussed her stance on big tech’s suppression of free speech. Gabbard came out against the suppression of speech by both big government and big tech companies. She stood to defend free speech, civil liberties, and privacy, calling them “essential to our American values.” Many believe that free speech has been in danger of suppression recently.

On the first day of the Democratic debates, candidate Tulsi Gabbard surprised the nation with her graceful and consistent speaking. On a roster of 25 other Democratic nominees, the competition buried her. Candidates like Bernie Sanders, Kamala Harris, Elizabeth Warren, and Joe Biden stole the spotlight. But after the debates, Twitter, Facebook, and 4/8Chan were alight with the name “Tulsi”. In fact, she was the most searched candidate on the night of her debate. But what was really striking was the way those on the American political right jumped to support Gabbard.
