Hong Kong Police have come under fire after officials admitted to posing as protestors and committing acts of violence. This comes as Hong Kong Police Public Relations Chief Superintendent Tse Chun-Chung suggests police have intelligence that protesters will engage in terrorism. Activists have responded to claims of violence as “propaganda meant to scare people from taking to the streets.”. Hong Kong Legislator Claudia Mo echoed the opinion of activists, calling the intelligence “a joke”.
A video has surfaced on Reddit showing Hong Kong police physically assaulting a female protestor. It appears to show cops throwing the woman to the ground before another sprays pepper spray in her face from mere feet away. The woman held her hands in the air in surrender during the entire confrontation. Hong Kong is currently experiencing widespread political protests.
