Hong Kong Won’t Go Quietly

After thirteen straight weeks of protests and civil unrest, the situation in Hong Kong has finally turned violent. On Aug. 31st, Hong Kong Police allegedly shot twice into the air to halt the advance of demonstrators deemed to be “serious threats to their lives.” On the same night, protestors used Molotov Cocktails to burn police barricades, lending credibility to the concern of the officers. As tensions continue to increase and China refuse to budge on their crackdown of Hong Kong, a question lingers:

To the residents of Hong Kong: if you can hear us, we stand with you. In the airport, and in the streets, to those millions of you who are beating that eternal drum of freedom, we stand with you. To the valiant protestors waving the American flag of liberty, we are with you. To those singing our national anthem through the dark night, we stand with you.

If there is one truth about the state of the modern American empire, it is this: We are not a singular people. From dusty plains to packed trains, and everywhere in between, we are a distinctively diverse population that rarely agrees in principle.

Hong Kong Police Assault Female Protester: VIDEO

Hong Kong police have cracked down on the protesting masses with violence and a new video shows a horrific example.

A video has surfaced on Reddit showing Hong Kong police physically assaulting a female protestor. It appears to show cops throwing the woman to the ground before another sprays pepper spray in her face from mere feet away. The woman held her hands in the air in surrender during the entire confrontation. Hong Kong is currently experiencing widespread political protests.

Hong Kong Protests Continue Despite Countless Arrests

In response to recent protests in Hong Kong, Police have arrested several protesters. This comes after both the local government and the government in Beijing condemned the young protesters who stormed the legislature. Despite countless arrests, protests continue. Officials in the local government worry that the arrests could cause the protests to grow more violent.
