It’s been over two weeks since the Democratic debates in Florida and the nation is still reeling. Attention has not come off the candidates’ wins, losses, and scandals for a single second. The puff pieces and local news health broadcasts have practically nowhere to go. A “winner” of the second Democratic debate was US Senator Kamala Harris. The media and her supporters praised her take-down of Joe Biden and her stellar performance on the evening of the debate. Harris’ supporters think of her as a perfect progressive candidate in support of all the standard and fringe left economic and social issues.
Since the War on Drugs began in the early 70s, there have been people, interest groups, and politicians working to bring an end to it. As early as the 1990s, states were legalizing medical marijuana usage thanks to largely Democratic politicians. Pot legalization has been a contentious topic in all American elections since. Although Democrats spearhead the issue, more and more people on both sides are giving the go-ahead for pot legalization. However, Former Vice President Joe Biden starkly breaks with this Democratic consensus on weed. Continue reading “Joe Biden: The Lone Democrat Against Marijuana Legalization”
The 2020 election is just over a year away, but there is already a long list of candidates running on the Democratic ballot. In June next year, the DNC will hold their primary debates in Milwaukee with over 20 candidates participating. At the top are still Bernie Sanders, Kamala Harris, and at the very top with 27%, Joe Biden.
Last Friday, a lone gunman entered two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand, opening fire and killing 50. All of these people were innocent Muslims who were simply partaking in Friday prayer. As a result, many politicians across the globe are calling to end hate towards Muslims and increase gun control. Particularly in the United States, though, most of these voices are wildly inconsistent. The majority of Congress, according to voting records and funding they accept, cares very little for Muslims. Or, at least, they have no regard for the ones overseas. In reality, it looks like quite a few politicians are simply using Muslims as a tool to ban guns.
The general election is still over a year away. We can’t trust presidential polls too much, especially if they’re within the margin of error. However, one candidate is not within the margin of error. Joe Biden is blowing Trump away. He has the moderate, blue-collar appeal that could win back the Rust Belt and give the suburban women uncomfortable with Trump a home in the Democratic Party. Every Democratic candidate will lose to Trump except for Biden, who would win in a blowout.
