Mark Sanford, 2020 Presidential Candidate vying for the Republican Party Nomination, sat down with 71 Republic’s CEO Matthew Geiger on a campaign stop in Columbus, Ohio, to discuss a variety of economic and foreign policy issues. Amy McGrath to Challenge Mitch McConnell in 2020

Democrats have a strategy to retake the Senate in 2020, along with the Presidency. With strong candidates across the board, a new leader emerged in July. Amy McGrath announced her bid to remove Mitch McConnell from his congressional seat in D.C. The “Ditch Mitch” phenomenon gained traction in Kentucky after the election of President Trump and the polarization of the two parties. As a result, a new challenger approaches, with Amy McGrath stepping in as a left-of-center Democrat to threaten the neoconservative sector of the GOP.

Americans Are Becoming Ideologically Possessed

On a fundamental level, our political allegiances are formed and determined by our personality and temperament. Human personalities are partly inherent and partly socialized, but they will nevertheless lead us to our instinctive reactions to a wide array of political affairs. In the absence of thorough personal research on an issue, it is our temperament that guides us to an opinion. It’s no sin to have strong values that inform one on how to act. However, overarching values applied in frivolous manners don’t allow for much distinction to individual circumstances.

Abortion is the Worst Political Issue

With controversial laws being passed in states like Rhode Island and Georgia, both sides of the abortion debate seem to be gearing up for a national clash. Under most circumstances, I would recommend that more conversation is the best method to combat the inevitable whirlwind of belligerence. But, I can no longer in good conscience do the same when it comes to abortion.
