Many traditionalists claim that The West was founded on “Judeo-Christian” values. Specifically, they say, “The Ten Commandments”. The Daily Wire, PragerU, and Louder with Crowder are just a few of the respected media platforms which broadcast this argument repeatedly. Along with these outlets, there is a large group of individual commentators who also push this idea of The West to their audience. There has been enough dismissal of the Christendom angle for years now, but what is seldom addressed is how and why The Ten Commandments were not a foundational document of Western Civilization.
The fallacious and overpraised Ben Shapiro is a traditional conservative pundit known for his journalism and his company, The Daily Wire. He posits Judeo-Christian values and the 10 commandments as the founding ideology of Western society. Shapiro promotes family values, traditional gender roles, and celibacy before marriage. Something which Ben Shapiro claims is not influenced by his religiosity or conservatism is his stance on trans people. He claims only the facts of biology, genetics, and language determine his positions on this.

Many ultra-traditionalist conservatives might have you believe that toxic masculinity is just an excuse for boys who aren’t “boy enough” to exist and for men who aren’t “men enough” to exist. It’s the lack of masculinity that causes erratic violence, right? But, is it the surge of masculinity (and perhaps its friend, testosterone) that catalyzes “good” violence? The same masculinity that gives rise to calculated violence against deserving enemies and makes enemies in the first place?
