A lone attacker injured a police officer Tuesday afternoon in Paris after running through the Notre Dame Cathedral with a hammer.
He reportedly ran up to the officer and stuck him in the head. The man was shot twice in the chest by the same officer and has been taken to a hospital. No civilians were injured. The Interior Ministry has considered this a terrorist attack. They also added that the attacker stated “it is for Syria.” The Cathedral has also been put under lock down, though it appears the situation has ended.
This event occurred just two days after a London attack left 7 people dead and numerous injured when three assailants ran over people on the London bridge and then stabbed others with knives.
France has been in a state of emergency since November 2015.
