Explosion Reported In Manhattan, Possible Terrorist Attack

Early this morning, the NYPD responded to an explosion reported between 42nd Street and 8th Avenue. The Port Authority Bus Station has since been evacuated.

Sources indicate that the bomber was of Bangladeshi origin, no motive has been identified yet. UPDATE: The bomber is a 27 year-old Bangladeshi male who has lived in Brooklyn for the past seven years. UPDATE: The name of the alleged bomber is Akayed Ullah.

The perpetrator has since been put into custody. It was an attempted suicide bombing.

It was a low-tech device.

Luckily, the bomb went off prematurely, and appears as if the only injury was to the bomber himself.UPDATE: Four injures reported, none are thought to be life threatening. The suspected bomber was injured as well, sustaining wounds in the abdomen and the leg. He is reported to be stable and coherent.

He did make statements claiming connections to ISIS, but we’re not going to talk about that now.

In addition to the evacuation of the Port Authority Bus Station, the MTA has stated that 1, 2, 3, A, C, E, N, Q, R, W and 7 trains were skipping 42nd Street.

34th Street, Bronx, and Staten Island are all being checked for further devices. The Times building has also been evacuated.
