United States President Donald Trump told reporters on Wednesday evening that he is open to speaking under oath with Special Counsel Robert Mueller, after reports broke the day before that the probe was to seek an interview.

“I am looking forward to it, actually,” Mr. Trump said, when asked if he was going to talk to Mueller while the press was meeting with White House Chief-of-Staff John Kelly at the residence.

“Here is the story: There has been no collusion whatsoever. There is no obstruction whatsoever. And I am looking forward to it.”

Mr. Mueller is leading an independent investigation into intelligence community allegations that Russia interfered in the 2016 U.S. presidential election that brought Mr. Trump to power just over a year ago, along with alleged collusion.

Reports broke on Wednesday, first from the Washington Post, that Mueller was seeking an interview with the president over his firing of former officials James Comey and Michael Flynn.

Mr. Trump also said he is considering allowing children of illegal immigrants protected under the Deferred Action on Childhood Arrivals to become U.S. citizens in 10 to 12 years.
